COLUMBUS, Ohio –– Capital University, a private four-year undergraduate institution and graduate school, today selected SoundCom Systems of Berea, OH to design and install a high-performance sound system for Bernlohr Stadium as part of a large capital improvement project to the facility.
Bernlohr Stadium is a 3,000 seat multi-use stadium facility supporting football, soccer, lacrosse, and track and field programs. The new sound system will feature major upgrades to the speaker system, digital signal processing systems, control room, and hearing assistance.
“A critical element of this system design is to limit the audio spillover outside of the stadium into the Bexley community,” says Jeff Rollins, Director of Operations for SoundCom Systems, “we worked very closely with Capital staff and our manufacturing partners to develop a system that achieves this goal, while still performing within the venue.”
SoundCom will deploy a series of high-performance Meyer Sound CAL series digitally steerable column array loudspeakers throughout the venue to carefully control where sound travels. Each speaker is outfitted with custom built drivers and tweeters specifically engineered for beam steering while preserving a low profile.
“We’re going to be able to deliver highly intelligible sound throughout the stadium, and limit the impact of the system on the community,” continues Mr. Rollins, “while at the same time keeping the technology visually discreet, blending in to the existing architecture."
The audio system will have a network controlled interface that can monitor and control sound for superior performance within the venue. The project includes improved microphones for venue announcements and on-field official address, along with an improved hearing assist system for those with audible impairments.
